August Rush Movie Review

I saw August Rush Friday night and I was extremely impressed.  This movie is great!  Freddie Highmore (The Golden Compass & HBO's "A Good Year") was excellent as the star of the film.  On top of the solid storyline and excellent acting (also Robin Williams, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, & Terrence Howard) the music in this film floored me.  Grant it, the boy music prodigy August Rush wasn't actually playing the  music... but someone was... and it was excellent.  Being a guitar player, I very much respected the music in this film, and wish I could play like that.  I'm currently waiting to find my $25 iTunes card I got for Christmas so I can buy the soundtrack... It'll be well worth the money.  August Rush was excellent, family friendly, and definitely a must see for all you moviegoers.

Craziness...

Life's seemed kinda weird lately.  I don't really know why.  It's been great... things have been going really well... but it's just been kinda confusing... mixed emotions and stuff.  It's been a while since I've written about something serious and I've missed it.  I've realized that it really helps me to write out my thoughts, to "think out loud" if you will.  It helps me sort things out and figure out what I'm really thinking.  Anyway, things are just weird...  It seems like there's something I'm missing, some target that I'm flying right past without even noticing it.  It just seems like I'm not doing enough... like it's time, in the midst of the daily step by step life, to jump... to reach out... to change a life (maybe mine) somehow.  Even as I write this I think... in the past month or so has my life been outstanding for Christ, or have I simply been cruising along?  I'm afraid the answer is that I've been cruising.  I think that's where this confusion is coming from.  I feel like I need to jump but I don't know where or how high.  I want to see lives changed, people touched, Christ simply working through me, but I feel like I'm just taking one step after another without any thought or action.  I feel lazy by just sitting around and waiting, but waiting isn't always easy.  I believe the Bible and I believe that sometimes that's what you have to do.  So I guess right now all I can do is pray, study, get to know my Savior more and more... and wait.

Isaiah 40:31

"but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
   they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
   they shall walk and not faint."

It's time to wait.  To pray.  To say, "Here am I, send me" and see where I go.

All this so that, "All the earth will sing Your praise, the moon and stars, the sun and rain..."

Guitar skills...

I was just introduced by a friend to a guitarist named Andy Mckee.  This guy is ridiculous!  As far as I know all his stuff is acoustic.  I watched him play on YouTube and was absolutely stunned.  I wonder how many hours he's practiced...

Merry Christmas!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!!!
It's been a great holiday season for me so far, I hope yours is going well also!  I've been spending some great time with family and enjoying some truly excellent food. How's your Christmas been?  Any interesting stories, great memories, or new beautiful gifts?  Leave a comment and let me know!

I've got one thing I'd like to talk about today in the world of technology.  There is a new upcoming web browser called Flock.  It's available on Mac and Windows.  I've just started experimenting with it over the past few days, but so far, from what I can tell, I really like it.  I've been a big fan of both Firefox and Safari, but I think this new browser may have won me over.  Anyone, who uses social networking sites (mainly Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube) should definitely check this out.  This browser is completely designed for the "social-networker."  It has many great features and tools for all you social networking needs.  I feel that the features are too in-depth to describe in words... or I just don't feel like taking the time to type out descriptions... but either way, you need to see it for yourself.  Check it out!

National Treasure: Book of Secrets Review

Well, after a little bit of down time, I’m back up on the blog with some different stuff. As I mentioned in the last post, I’m going to start posting some “thoughts” on some more things… news, movies, tech, whatever.

Just saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets tonight. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The title itself and the trailer had me thinking they should’ve stopped with the first movie. It seemed to me like it was going to be one of those cases where the original was a bigger hit than expected and the production company tried milk it for all its worth with a sequel. Typically the sequel has a rough plot line, a terrible ending, and basically bombs. However, in this case I was impressed. While I still hold that the first movie is better, National Treasure: Book of Secrets kept my attention and was surprisingly interesting and entertaining. It carried a deeper storyline than I expected and had a little bit of a twist at the end. Of course it was good to see the original cast back as well. Just take this movie for what it is (a fictional adventure) and it will be an enjoyable attention grabbing film. The writers even led the audience to believe that there will be a third, which I now would be much more excited to see.
